Salt Air have been established in the Northland area since 1992 and operate a modern fleet of helicopters and fixed wing aircraft offering quality and unique scenic flight experiences. Their flights and tours are designed to experience the best of the Bay of Islands & Northland viewing the spectacular beauty of diverse remote coastal areas, much of it unreachable by road.

Salt Air is renowned for it’s half day adventure to the Cape Reinga region by aeroplane. A popular and fantastic way to explore the very top of New Zealand, it includes return scenic flights over 90 mile beach and the east coast plus a 2.5hr vehicle tour in the area. This tour visits the iconic Cape Reinga Light House with views of the meeting of the two seas, a beach stop at Tapotupotu Bay for refreshments and fun sand tobogganing at the giant Te Paki Sand Dunes.

The Bay of Islands offers some of the best coastal and island scenery in New Zealand so the Salt Air helicopter scenic flights from their Paihia waterfront helipad offer exceptional views of these beautiful islands leading to the infamous “Hole in the Rock”.

A recent addition to their scenic flight options is to Land by Helicopter on the Hole in the Rock. Known by Maori as “MotuKokako”, very few people in history have ever ventured on the island. Being surrounded by steep cliffs (over 150m) and stunning scenery looking towards Cape Brett and its surrounds, this is a truly unique and cultural experience.
