Kiwi North:

Kiwi House, Museum & Heritage Park

Kia ora, welcome to Kiwi North: Kiwi House, Museum and Heritage Park. In the Kiwi House you can view the only captive Kiwi and Tuatara in Northland. Learn all about these wonderful animals and why they are so unique, as they forage for food in front of you. Kiwi feeding followed by a talk by the keeper is 3 times daily, 11am, 1 and 3pm.

Explore the various exhibitions in the Museum, including beautiful taonga Maori, natural history displays with the remains of Whangarei’s own, now extinct Moa and early European settler history.

Then you can stretch your legs with a walk around the Heritage Park. The Heritage Park has a collection of historic buildings demonstrating Northland’s early colonial architectural history between the late 1850s to the early 1900. Visit the historic 1886 Clarke Homestead, the original home on the Park, the octagonal Oruaiti Chapel and other heritage buildings in the park.
